"Little baby, I understand that life never goes exactly as planned, and that something so little can be something so grand." This is a story for small but mighty preemie babies. It's a story about love.

Peanut A storybook for mighty preemie babies Lindsay Nolan 9780578169200 Books

This very brief storybook focuses on soothing parents about the size of the preemie and affirming their faith in god.

I felt that the product description offered on the website should state that it is geared toward to the religious community so consumers might not be misled by the content.

My intended recipient is not religious and finds meaningful solace in other means, including the skill and dedication of the attending physicians and nurses.

This book would not have been welcome.

Two excerpts from the soft cover storybook.

"To her Peanut, Mama said,
My wish for you is to embed my faith in God, my daily bread;"

"My preemie seed, you've been misled, my love exceeds the length you spread..."

The skilled doctors and nurses that dedicate their lives and expertise to diagnose and treat these infants are the true heroes, the true laborers that return these precious lives to health. If you are looking for a book that includes this aspect of the care this is not the one for you.

They received a mention in the afterword and in small print on the copy write page. But I do understand that the author chose to narrow down her experience.

Possible Pros:
Lightweight, easy to mail
Geared toward the Christian ideology
(faith in god. praying)
Story line is minimal, easy read, under 1 minute and will work for short attention spans.

Possible Cons:
Geared toward the Christian ideology.
(faith in god, praying)
Awkward phrasing to maintain the rhyming.
Storybook is very brief, a poem is a better description.
Doctors and nurses are not pictured or mentioned in the story. With the exception of thanks in small print on the copy write page and afterword.

I will be donating this to a local charity. I do not begrudge anyone finding solace in this material.
I do however appreciate a little more honesty in the product description up front.

Perfect book to convey being the parent of a preemie! Love it even though it still brings tears to my eyes as I relive our NCU journey
Awesome book! I would read to my baby in the NICU and left it at his bedside for all of his nurses to sign. The NICU was the hardest experience of my life & this book brought sunshine to the cloudiest of days
This book captures the heart of the NICU...loving your baby through thick and thin. Loved it so much would definitely buy again.
My daughter was born at 34 weeks ans spent 2 weeks in the special care nursery. This book is exactly how I felt towards her and about the experience.
I bought this book for my preemie baby boy. It is so sweet! A sweet reminder of our time spent in the NICU.
Our little boy was born at 32 weeks and we had this in the NICU with him for the nurses to sign. I remember feeling understood and not so alone reading this book. This is a wonderful gift for parents of a preemie or siblings who don’t quite understand what’s going on. I highly highly recommend.
๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿป๐Ÿคฑ๐ŸปSuch a beaUtiful sentiment to all the little miracle preemie babies in the world❣️my little guy was a month early, and due to complications ended up staying in the NICU for 34 days. One of the amazing nurses one night brought this book out and read it to my little baby. She showed me the book and as i read i cried☺️it was like reading our own story word for word. so beautiful and sweet-a mother’s loving message to her miracle NICU baby. It was written by a woman who actually had her baby in the hospital that i was in so the nurses knew her and remembered her and her family fondly so they loved sharing their story with other NICU moms. i immediately got on and purchased the book. I actually contacted the author and we shared stories and photos of our little guys along with some smiles and tears๐Ÿ˜‰Her liitle Henry is 4 years old now and such a handsome little man❣️I encourage anyone who has to watch their tiny baby’s first days take place in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to pick up this sweet book. i’ve read it to my son almost every single night since i got it๐Ÿค—
