Being able to check on the accuracy of comprehension when reading in French was just what I was looking for. I always wondered how much I was missing. It would have been better if the translation was closer to the original physically when I found myself struggling to untangle a complex passage. By the time I finished the chapter, I had forgotten what was confusing so I could go back and forth to figure it out in the English chapter. I found rereading the chapter in English to be tedious sine I understood 95 percent of it the first time.Product details

As many reviewers have said, it’s hard to find grown-up fiction for intermediate French speakers/readers. This is a good story at a good intermediate level, and the format is helpful. Most of the story collections out there are pretty dull. This is great. Thank you.
This was a fabulously fun way to improve my French. I couldn't put the book down. It is very involving, with a good pace and terrific characters. I am an intermediate French student, and this book was at a perfect level for me. I had the enjoyment of understanding a lot of it, while learning a lot more. Having the English translation right there was perfect, both to confirm my understanding and to help out when a paragraph just wouldn't make sense to me. Please could we have volumes 2-4 in French????
